TLW_1174William Barrington earned a B.A. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the College of Wooster in 2010 and a Ph.D. in Genetics from North Carolina State University in 2016. He worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at Texas A&M University in 2016 and will begin a Postdoctoral Researcher position at the University of California Los Angeles in 2017.

William’s research has centered on understanding how genetic factors cause people to respond differently to diets, with the goal of improving human health by optimizing individuals’ diets. William believes it is critical to inform the public about the genetics and nutrition research currently taking place in academic institutions. He hopes this blog will serve as an intermediary between academic journals, where research is published, and the public for whom the research benefits.

  1. Bill, I just stumbled upon your site and I have already read through 4 or 5 posts. I have to say that I thoroughly enjoy reading your posts! I will absolutely keep stopping in as your style of writing is very easy to understand. I was an attendee at the most recent Ancestral Health Symposium at Harvard University and I’ve developed a deep passion for the science relating to all things health. I have been following a low-carb, Paleo-ish (sometimes moderate carb depending on my activity level with mostly sweet potato’s) for just about 3 years now and it has done soo much for my health. However, there are a few things that I still need to address such as my digestive health (1st generation, Italian American so I at LOTS of all things GRAIN growing up) and managing my stress. Not sure if you’re fluent in Digestive Health issues but I look forward to reading more of your posts as the science is fascinating to me!

    In Health,
    Francesco Scardigno!
