TLW_1174William (Bill) Barrington earned a B.A. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the College of Wooster in 2010 and a Ph.D. in Genetics from North Carolina State University in 2016. He is currently a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

Bill’s research centers on understanding how genetic factors influence peoples’ responses to diets with the goal of improving human health by optimizing individuals’ diets. While Bill is a highly trained scientist, he has the public’s interests at heart. When designing studies, he emphasizes real-world applications and strives to perform science that appeals to the interests of the public, not just the scientific community. This website serves as a gateway between the “ivory tower” of academic science and general public who simply want to know what to eat to improve their health.

  1. Bill, I just stumbled upon your site and I have already read through 4 or 5 posts. I have to say that I thoroughly enjoy reading your posts! I will absolutely keep stopping in as your style of writing is very easy to understand. I was an attendee at the most recent Ancestral Health Symposium at Harvard University and I’ve developed a deep passion for the science relating to all things health. I have been following a low-carb, Paleo-ish (sometimes moderate carb depending on my activity level with mostly sweet potato’s) for just about 3 years now and it has done soo much for my health. However, there are a few things that I still need to address such as my digestive health (1st generation, Italian American so I at LOTS of all things GRAIN growing up) and managing my stress. Not sure if you’re fluent in Digestive Health issues but I look forward to reading more of your posts as the science is fascinating to me!

    In Health,
    Francesco Scardigno!
